Humans have inner desire to say and to hear, especially when facing fragile, painful, or difficult experiences. Yet speakers and listeners often remain distant from one another because of trust, sensitivity, and responsibility.

You want to say something but cannot be heard.
You want to hear something but no one says.

Vacuum Zone is an interactive sound installation that focuses on the naturally fractured relationship between “saying” and “listening.” The work suggests that communication is not a process in which information naturally travels from one side to another, but a connection that can only be triggered under specific conditions. Vacuum Zone constructs a sound transmission system that can be intervened in. By adjusting the pressure of the air medium, it reorganises the relationship between speaker and listener, presenting communication as something manufactured and negotiated, rather than something that happens naturally.
